Cost and choices
Pexo alternative: Voom vs Pexo for launch videos and explainers
By the Voom team Published 6 min read
Choose Voom if you want a motion graphics launch film or explainer from your product link, with exact words and numbers, at well under a dollar for 30 seconds on Pro. Choose Pexo if you want avatars, UGC-style ads, generated cinematic footage or videos longer than 3 minutes, and you are fine paying several dollars per video.
Voom and Pexo at a glance
Pexo calls itself an AI video agent. You describe the video in a chat, or hand it a URL, a PDF, an image, a video or an audio file. Pexo plans the script, scenes and shots, picks a generative model for each one (its pages name Seedance, Kling, Veo, Nano Banana and others), and handles voiceover, captions, music and the edit. You then ask for changes in the same conversation. Its home page lists a wide spread of formats: motion graphics explainers, launch videos, talking-head avatar videos, UGC ads, product ads, music videos and anime.
Voom is a motion graphics video maker. You write a prompt and, if the video is about your product, paste its link. Voom reads the page and designs one film for that product: its palette, its type, its logo and the pictures worth showing, with a script, a voiceover, an original score, sound effects and optional captions. It makes one kind of video and does not try to make the others.
So this is not a like-for-like fight. Pexo is a general tool that can make a launch video. Voom is a launch video and explainer tool that does nothing else.
Voom vs Pexo compared
Pexo facts come from pexo.ai (pricing, credit rules, getting started, URL to video and AI avatar pages), read on 2 November 2026. Voom facts come from Voom’s pricing page on the same day. Where Pexo’s pages say nothing, the table says so.

How we estimated Pexo’s price per video. Pexo does not publish a credit cost per second. Its pricing page puts Pro’s 4,800 monthly credits at approximately 2 to 5 minutes of video. $30 divided by 2 to 5 minutes is $6 to $15 a minute, so a 30-second video works out to about $3.00 to $7.50 and a 60-second one to $6 to $15. Pexo says it matches a model to each shot, so the real cost depends on which models your video uses. Voom’s prices are not estimates: every video costs a fixed number of credits by length, and the credit price is the Pro plan’s $29 divided by 560 credits.
Bottom line: per video, Voom costs a fraction of Pexo for the job they share. Pexo buys you range: formats, inputs and lengths Voom does not offer at all.
Where Pexo is the better choice
Be honest about the job first. Pexo is the better pick when:
- You need a person on screen. Talking-head avatars with lip-sync, UGC-style ads and voice cloning are Pexo features. Voom has no avatars, by design.
- You want generated footage. Cinematic product shots, anime, music videos and other filmed-looking scenes come from the video models Pexo routes to. Voom does not generate footage.
- The video is long. Pexo says there is no fixed duration cap. Voom stops at 3 minutes on Business.
- Your source is a PDF, a recording or a video. Pexo takes all of them as input. Voom starts from a prompt, a link and images.
- You want to direct by chat. Pexo is built around revising the video in conversation, and it runs inside Telegram, WhatsApp and Discord as well as the browser.
Where Voom is the better choice
- Every word and number must be exact. Generative video models draw text pixel by pixel, which makes exact product names, prices and interface labels hard to hold. Voom sets type the way a designer does, and a product film states only figures its sources state, checked against your page.
- Your real product should be the picture. With a link, Voom uses your own screenshots, packshots and logo, inside a look designed from your brand. There are no preset themes.
- You make videos often. At 13 credits for 30 seconds, Pro’s 560 credits cover 43 films of 30 seconds a month. Pexo’s own estimate for Pro is 2 to 5 minutes of video in total.
- You need every size. One finished film can be remade in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5 without new AI work, keeping its voice, music and motion, for one credit for every five seconds of film.
- The sound has to be finished. Each film gets an original score shaped to its length, sound effects on the beats and a mix mastered to -14 LUFS.
The film at the end of this page is Voom’s own 30-second launch film, made by Voom from a single prompt. It shows the kind of video Voom makes; Pexo’s gallery at pexo.ai shows the range of what Pexo makes.
Which one should you choose?
Start from the video you need this week.
- A Product Hunt or launch film where the product is the star: Voom. See the Product Hunt launch video page.
- An explainer that shows how something works, step by step: Voom, which draws each step as motion graphics. See explainer videos.
- A short film for every release, in every size: Voom, from a sentence and your link.
- A talking avatar, a UGC ad or a voice clone: Pexo, or an avatar tool. Our Synthesia alternative and HeyGen alternative guides explain when an avatar is the right call.
- A long video, or one built from a PDF or a recording: Pexo.
If the job is motion graphics, try the AI motion graphics generator: your first video, up to 30 seconds, is free, and reading your product link costs nothing.

Frequently asked questions
For product launch films, explainers and feature announcements, yes. Voom designs each video as motion graphics from your prompt and product link, sets every word as real type and checks every number against your page. A 30-second video costs 13 credits, about $0.67 on Pro. If you need avatars, UGC-style ads or generated footage, Pexo covers those and Voom does not.
On 2 November 2026 Pexo's pricing page listed Pro at $30 a month for 4,800 credits, Elite at $60 for 10,000 and Max from $100 for 18,000, including limited-time bonus credits. Pexo puts Pro at about 2 to 5 minutes of video a month. Paid plans remove the watermark. Credits do not roll over and payments are non-refundable.
Range against focus. Pexo is a general AI video agent: you chat with it, and it routes each shot to a generative image or video model, so it can make avatars, anime, music videos and ads. Voom only makes motion graphics: type, shapes, charts and your product's own pictures animated to a voiceover, with music written for that film.
Pexo says you can start free with no credit card, with starter credits, three bonus projects on first registration and one free project a day. It lists watermark-free exports as a paid-plan feature. Voom's free plan makes one video of up to 30 seconds with a small watermark, and reading a product link costs nothing.
No. Voom has no avatars, presenters or generated people, by design. Its videos are motion graphics with a voiceover. For a talking head or a UGC-style ad, Pexo or an avatar tool such as Synthesia or HeyGen is the better choice. For a launch film where the product itself is the picture, Voom fits.
